Managing Outgoing Payments π€
Which service providers do I need to update?
You need to update anyone who automatically debits your account. Create a list and update each one:
- Subscription services - Software (Adobe, Microsoft, SaaS tools)
- Utilities - Electricity, water, internet, phone bills
- Insurance - Business and personal insurance policies
- Loans & leases - Any automatic loan or lease payments
- Tax authorities - If they debit your account directly
- Payroll services - If you use external payroll providers
- Other recurring payments - Any other automatic debits
How do I update each service provider?
For each provider on your list:
- Contact them (online portal, email, or phone)
- Provide your new Dutch IBAN
- Request written confirmation of the update
- Keep a record of when you updated and received confirmation
What happens if I don't update my outgoing direct debits?
After the 6-month grace period ends, automatic payments will fail, which could result in service interruptions, late fees, or penalties.
Managing Incoming Payments π₯
Who needs to know about my new IBAN?
Anyone who pays you needs your new Dutch IBAN:
- Major clients - Your highest-revenue customers
- Recurring clients - Customers who pay you regularly
- Occasional clients - Less frequent customers who may have outstanding invoices
- Direct debit clients - Anyone who pays you via direct debit mandate
How should I communicate my new IBAN?
Use multiple channels to ensure everyone is informed:
- Send a dedicated email announcement to all clients

- Include a notice in your next invoice or statement
What happens if clients keep using my old IBAN?
