Qonto is introducing new local Dutch IBANs to improve your banking experience. 🇳🇱 Your existing French IBANs will be progressively replaced by new Dutch IBANs to offer you local banking details and ensure full regulatory compliance as Qonto grows.
When does the Dutch IBAN launch happen? 📅
The Dutch IBAN launch happens in two phases:
- December 15, 2025: Launch date for new clients
- January 20, 2026: Migration date for existing clients
Am I considered a "new client" or an "existing client"? 🤔
- New client: You opened your Qonto account on or after December 15, 2025
- Existing client: You opened your Qonto account before December 15, 2025 and currently have a French IBAN

For New Clients ✨
I'm opening a Qonto account after December 15, 2025. What IBAN will I receive?
You will receive a Dutch IBAN (NL) directly when you open your account. You will never have a French IBAN.
Do I need to do anything for the migration?
No! Since you're starting with a Dutch IBAN from day one, there's no migration and no action required from you.
Will I have a grace period or two IBANs?
No. You'll only have one Dutch IBAN from the start, so there's no grace period to manage.
For Existing Clients 🔄
I already have a Qonto account with a French IBAN. When will I get a Dutch IBAN?
Your account will be automatically migrated on January 20, 2026. On that day, your new Dutch IBAN will appear in your Qonto app, and your French IBAN will no longer be visible.
Will my French IBAN stop working immediately?
No! There's a 6-month grace period (January 20 - June 21, 2026) during which:
- Both your old French IBAN and new Dutch IBAN will work for incoming payments
- All outgoing payments will automatically use your new Dutch IBAN
❓ Why can't I see my old French IBAN anymore?
After January 20, 2026, your old French (FR) IBAN is no longer displayed in your Qonto app. This is intentional and not an error.
You now have a new Dutch (NL) IBAN that appears as your primary account number. This change is part of our commitment to providing local banking services to Dutch businesses.
What you'll see:
- ✅ Your new NL IBAN in the Qonto app and web interface
- ✅ Your new NL IBAN on bank statements
- ❌ Your old FR IBAN is hidden from view
What happens after the grace period ends (June 21, 2026)?
After June 21, 2026, your old French IBAN will be completely deactivated. Only your new Dutch IBAN will work for any transactions.
❓ Can I still receive payments on my old French IBAN?
Yes! Until June 21, 2026, both IBANs work for incoming payments.
During this 6-month grace period:
- ✅ Payments to your new NL IBAN → arrive normally
- ✅ Payments to your old FR IBAN → arrive normally and are automatically credited to your account
Important: Even though you can't see the old FR IBAN in your app, it continues to accept payments in the background until the grace period ends.
What do I need to do during the 6-month grace period? ✅
You must complete these actions before June 21, 2026:
- Update outgoing direct debits: Contact service providers who debit your account and give them your new Dutch IBAN
- Update incoming direct debits: Inform clients who pay you by direct debit about your new Dutch IBAN
- Update invoices: Re-issue any invoices with payment due after June 21, 2026 with your new Dutch IBAN
- Share your new IBAN: Notify all clients, partners, and employers of your new Dutch IBAN
☝️To help you navigate these changes, we created a handy checklist you can follow to help you manage this migration. Please review the article IBAN Migration Checklist for Existing Clients 📋 for more information.
What happens if I don't update my information during the grace period? ⚠️
- Automatic payments (direct debits) to suppliers will fail
- You'll stop receiving payments from clients using the old IBAN
- Invoices with the old IBAN cannot be paid after June 21, 2026
Does the migration apply to all my accounts?
Yes! The migration applies to:
- ✅ Your main account
- ✅ All sub-accounts
- ✅ Accounts with status: Pending, Active, or Waiting for Funds
