Qonto accepts the following identity documents

What are the acceptance criteria and reasons for rejecting an identity document?

To comply with the rules imposed by the monetary and financial code, we must verify the authenticity of the identity documents of all Qonto users, as well as the data they contain. This enables us to combat money laundering, fraud, and terrorism. Qonto accepts for the Dutch market:

• EU/EFTA ID card
• EU/EFTA Passport
• Dutch Residence permit
• Dutch Drivers license
• Passport from 🇺🇸USA, 🇬🇧 UK, 🇦🇺 Australia, 🇨🇦 Canada, 🇯🇵 Japan, and 🇳🇿 New Zealand

Qonto accepts the following identity documents

✅ National identity document issued by a member state of the European Union or the EFTA with an MRZ strip. 
✅ Dutch driver's license.
💡 The document must be sent in color and contain both sides. 
❌ Expired identity documents 
 

✅ A passport issued by a member state of the European Union or the EEA. 
💡 The document must be fully displayed on the open double page (information + photo + signature) and in color. 
 

✅ A long-term or temporary residence permit issued in the Netherlands, allowing the holder to work. 
💡 The document must be shown in color and contain both sides. 
❌ We do not accept VISAs. 
❌ Residence permits of the type "student" are not accepted.

✅ Residence permits we accept:

• Renewed investor residence permit
• Initial investor residence permit
• Highly skilled initial residence permit
• Initial entrepreneur residence permit
• Residence permit under Withdrawal Agreement Art. 50 TEU
• International Protection Asylum residence permit
• Initial intra-company transfer residence permit
• Residence permit for family members of the EU Art. 20.DIRECTIVE 2004/38/EC
• Community regime residence permit
• Temporary residence permit for Ukrainians
• Temporary work and residence by 1st renewal
• National temporary residence permit and work from the UK
• Renewed temporary residence permit allowing work
• Renewed temporary residence permit and work allowing self-employment / others

🟠 All these residence permits are accepted as long as they allow work. 
💡 The document must be shown in color and contain both sides.

❌ We do not accept receipts of extension, application, loss, theft, or summons in a government office. 
❌ We also do not accept receipts of issued residence permits.

What are the acceptance criteria and reasons for rejecting an identity document?

1. The type of document. We accept the Dutch residence permit and identity cards and passports issued by an EU country.
2. The quality. All document data, as well as symbols and marks behind the text, must be fully legible.
3. The format. The document must be complete. We do not accept cut corners or edges, half pages, different markings, or stickers on the document, etc.
4. The color. We do not accept documents with altered colors due to a flash, saturated, filtered, or in black and white.
5. Validity. The identity document must currently be valid, not expired. We do not accept residence permits for students or individuals authorized to work on a secondary/supplementary basis.
